Chiari Malformation Cine MRI

Hi, I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type 1 in late December of 2015 and boy has it been a whirlwind. I am 18 and have been experiencing symptoms since I was 13. Doctors never really took me seriously, but my mom insisted to have an MRI on my brain. They found the chiari, 10.3 mm, and I've been on the journey to normallcy ever since.

My NS ordered a CINE MRI and I was wondering if anyone could help me interpret the notes. I have an appt. soon, but I want to make sure I know what questions to ask, because, like most sergeuns, he has no bed size manner. NOT the friendlies.

Flow per beat: .02 ml/beat
Flow per min: 1.56 ml/min & 1.68 ml/min
Study Comments C2 C3

Flow per beat: -0.25 ml/beat & -.02 ml/beat
Flow per min: -18.20 ml/min & -1.59 ml/min
Study Notes: CC Junction

If you have any knowledge about whether or not this is normal or what it mean, input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you tell me why surgery was offered? Surgery is usually done to restore CSF flow, but you do not have restricted flow so what are they going to do?

I know you are excited but there is no way to know what you may expect as I am not sure what they are going to be doing to you....

Are you having a decompression surgery?....do you have a syrinx or any other related condition they expect to help?

I would run the other way from this surgeon.  Surgery can only restore CSF flow.  What does this surgeon think surgery will help?

Syringomyeila (syrinx) , disk issues, CCI, ICP, POTS, EDS, tethered cord....there is a bit of a list of related conditions.

CCI cervical cranial instability....ICP intracranial hypertension.....POTS Postural Tachycardia Syndrome ......EDS Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Then there are non related conditions lymes, lupus, and MS.

Plus we all need to look at our families medical history too.
