Chiari Malformation Question? Tongue and Roof of Mouth Sensation...

Hi Everyone:

I have recently been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation with no Syringomyelia ...and when I google this symptom... not much comes up regarding this, so I am wondering if this is a symptom that anyone else is familiar with. The newest symptom is I have recently is a odd sensation under my tongue and then on the roof of my mouth. It is almost like a ticklish feeling, along with an increase in saliva ... does anyone else have this?  Also I have been burping a lot so perhaps I did pick up GERD? Perhaps its a symptom of GERD?

Thank You,

Tyler

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Increase in saliva can be a GERD symptom...and GERD is a side effect/symptom of Chiari...so it is all related one way or another

Hi Selma:
Thank You for providing an answer. :)
Do you know if GERD have that sensation of the tongue and the roof of the mouth feeling? Today my tongue is like burning and the roof of the mouth feels like it is being tickled, could the Chiari be causing a nerve to maybe rub against the roof of my mouth? Is that common, could not find much?  It also could be anxiety... months of not knowing what is wrong and fearing the worst and still thinking the worst even after the Neurologist has said its Chiari has really did a number on me...haha

Thank You!
It is possible it is a little of both....since we are all affected differently it is possible that it is a nerve.....talk with your Dr....but just know they may discount this being Chiari....even Drs that treat Chiari seem to have a short list of possible symptoms, but we Chiarians have a list miles long....
