I had serious problems with my right hip and even underwent surgery that did nothing to help and it has slowly gotten better since my chiari surgery... can't explain why just letting you know that it can happen...

I'm hanging there. I switched Neurosurgeons and have an appointment with him Feb. 27. He is head of Neurosurgery at Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. I researched his profile and it says chiari is one of his specialties including ALL malformations. I'm praying he may be able to help with all these symptoms.

Although I've only been on this site for about a year, it has lifesaver for me. Just have someone ay they understand...And Truly Understand! I am thankful for all support here!

LOL....my hip is doing fine for now...knock on wood....

Many of my muscles are tight, but that I was told is due to how unstable my joints are my muscles are compensating to help hold me together....

Not sure if we as EDSers are excluded from getting RA...this is an area I need to do more research.

Not really. It's an ache so deep that nothing takes it away. I'm pretty much a mess. I used to tell the guys I worked with that if they were having a bad day, just look at me, it could be worse! Uggghh!

Hi Molly. I have had bad hip pain in my right hip for years! There are times when I sit too long or sit a certain way and when I stand up, I can't put any weight or pressure on it. Can't walk. I have to lay down and try to stretch it out and then get back up and limp it out. lol  I walk until the pain goes away. It happens at no particular time, but a lot when it's cold. I'm not sure if it is related to my chiari or syringomyelia??

Hey Molly....I was having hip pain around Christmas, but I did not lose ROM, ...just had awful pain so much so I could not sit...

I am sure it is not the same issue u r having tho....I think those with EDS and Chiari are prone to  RA... the osteo arthritis could be an issue as we do not absorb calcium and Vit D as we need...so I know an absorption issue could lead to this problem. Does ur Dad have EDS?
