Chiari malformation?

I suffer from almost daily migraines, so I was sent for an MRI. A friend suggested that I might have a Chiari malformation. What does that look like on a MRI? Does the attached MRI image suggest a Chiari malformation? I also have vision problems, low blood pressure and numbness and tingling on my left side. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

Hi...yes it looks like overcrowding.....minimal herniation.

U deff will want a chiari dr to review and look for other chiari related conditions which could be responsible for ur symptoms in addition to the chiari.

Hi, hey that looks like my MRI. they say that I have low lying tonsils. Im going to get another opinion cause even though i have a alot of symptoms the NS that I saw said that my headaches, muscle weekness, balance problems, dizziness, and so on arent from the Chiari. ( which mind you he did say that I have chiari) Well I think I need another Doctors opinion on that. (to see if all these symptoms are from the chiari)  I would really see a doctor for this MRI, one who knows alot about it. Cause I sure didn't see one who knew enough.

Good luck!!

Hey there!  While I am not a trained radiologist  nor a trained neurosurgeon,  I definitely see crowding at the foreman magnum.  Your herniation is not large, but that is not indicative of your symptoms.

You may see "low lying tonsils" on the radiologist report.  *IF* any of your docs say that your symptoms couldn't be caused by this...I'd look for a true Chiari specialist.

I pray that you are able to find answers to your questions, and relief for your pain!

Blessings,

Rebecca
