Common symptoms?

Hi! Im 23 years old and i been suffering for the past year with symptoms. None of my doctors took the time to listen to all my symptoms as one. They just put it off as symptoms from my shoulder surgeries (from a car wreck all the way in 09 ..mind u these r worse and some new symptoms). I had a MRI done of my cervical spine to check for possible disk problems. In the results it showed low lying tonsils and possible CSF blockage (?). My dr said oh its something you born with probably nothing serious. Well, my symptoms have gotten way worse :Sharp pain/ pressure around my right eye (sometimes it causes me to faint), Right side of my face and lip goes numb, numbness & pain going down my right arm, trouble telling heat and cold in my hand, blurry vision, feels like my right eye cant focus when coming from light to dark or dark to light, eye twitching, always tired, dizziness, fast heart rate, trouble balancing , feels like the room is spinning, i get random fevers...seems like i get a headache everything i cough sneeze and even sometimes when i laugh.... i was wondering if these are common symptoms with Chiari malformation.

I recently went to the er for fainting. The doctor was concerned when my blood pressure and pulse rate was so high (which isn't normal for me). He was also concerned about my MRI findings & my symptoms. He then told me i needed to see my family dr and see about getting me referred to a neurologist. I did and she was also concerned so i FINALLY have drs that are listening to me and i have an appointment on Aug 17. Hopefully, then i will get answers i been waiting for . I have so many questions and i just want some answers.

  Keep in mind u need to research those Drs...it is not meant as a referral.....and do look for more then one...compare them....it is too important to not see a few Drs to see who u like better and feel more comfortable with....just a Dr that knows chiari is not enuff....

Take ur time with this and ask lots of questions : )

thanks for the drs list!!! i found one only 45 mins from my house in louisiana! Unfortunately i have to be referred there by a dr to see him. So, ill def keep that in mind when i see my dr next month..if he just doesnt know how to treat it r pushes it in the back burner i will see about getting a referral. Thanks sooo much for the info.

Thanks so much. Reading everyone's story i realize how much i have in common and i def wont stop till a dr treats me and actually knows how to deal with it. Lots of people inspired me and gave me hope that maybe one day all this will be over with or at least under control. Hardest part is not being able to do the things i used to do with my 3 year and she is too little to understand whats going on. breaks my heart when she wants me to run and play and i can because its a day FULL of symptoms.

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Getting a Dr to listen is one hurdle, but getting the right Dr to treat u is yet another....some drs r willing to treat u, that is how they get paid, but, u want one with experience with this condition....so do research Drs to find a true Chiari specialist.

U will need further testing to see if u have related issues/conditions.

  We do have a list of Drs that the members have been to and liked, it is not meant as a referral and not all Drs on the list may be true specialists for chiari, but it should help u get started with researching drs.

We r here to answer ne questions, and to answer urs, yes, many of ur symptoms can be chiari or chiari related issues...ur heart rate issues could be POTS...so u do have to be checked by a Dr that knows all the possible related conditions.
