Hey there, this happens to me too when I sneeze. But the "stars" are also accompanied by severe pain in the back of my head and neck. The pain is so bad that it leads to tears. Because of this I avoid sneezing as much as possible (I haven't sneezed in over a year because of this). If I feel a sneeze coming on I pinch my nostrils shut until the urge to sneeze passes =) It's probably not a good idea to do this, but I'd rather avoid the pain as much as possible lol
I get the headaches too. The stars are something new. I was wondering if they were part of chiari and if a lot of us see them.
Hello, pre surgery when I sneezed I saw stars everytime and also had pain in the back of my neck/head down to my shoulder blades. Pre surgery, unfortunately still the same thing happens.
I get them when I cough too much. I know people with out chiari who get this. Apparently it is just a thing that happens lol quiet funny seeing this post cause me and my dad were just talking about it cause I coughed and they appeared
So maybe it is a chiari thing. I also discovered that if I look too far down I see stars too. It's kind of weird because this is only just started happening.
Bending the neck forward or back will cause more of a blockage of CSF flow, and could be why you see "stars" as your head will shift positions when we cough, sneeze and laugh....
Most Drs will advise us to hold a book at eye level...(as if I could hold my arms up like that to read..) or move a computer monitor to eye level to avoid looking up or down at it to help keep the head on an even level....
With time the area where the CSF flows thru can get smaller so the more we move the more issues we may see...
Keep your Drs aware of these new issues.
