Mushy head

I had decompression surgery this past Tuesday & my head is mushy like a babies soft spot. When I lay on it I even hear the mush.  Has anyone else experienced this post surgery?

I wanted to reasure you that right after surgery this is usually normal, but for me my head when feeling it at 8 wks which they say it is highly unusual for this to happen so late in surgery.  Mine felt mushy, but also when feeling it my head felt like a balloon. When rubbing it I could feel the water.  This could be due to just having surgery for you thoough.  I called my NS and it was a leak, so as everyone say's.  Keep a good eye on it, but if you question it call the NS as soon as possible.  That is what they are there for.  When this happened to me they seen me the same day so don't hesitate t call.
Hope all goes well.

Watch this closely for any drainage, that could mean infection. As selma said keep a log of your temp. Call your ns and just have him take a look. Tell him your worried about it. I had the same issue and was checked over by ns and they said i was fine. Remember we had brain surgery, we do not know what to expect so dont feel dumb calling dr. It could still be swollen to. Have it checkked out. Its your body and your health. Good luck and keep us updated.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

May I ask, where this mushy soft area is located?...it is possible u have a leak and it is collecting in a sack....

Take ur temp and track it...if u run a temp call ur Dr, also if u feel symptoms when u change positions.....
