Radiology and NS Conflict

Has anyone else had your NS disagree with the results on your MRI?  My current MRI says (Radiologist) that my Chiari is 17.8 mm now and my NS (who looked the MRI too) says everything is fine...actually better than ever!  Thanks!

Hi...well, I am not sure what has u upset....the size or length of ur herniation is not an issue...it is the ability of ur CSF to flow....so even if the radiologist measures ur herniation to be longer, that would  make sense unless ur NS cut the tonsils off...as the bone was cut away...and that allows more room, the tonsils would not be bunched up in a small space....What do u mean by he disagree's with the results?

SO unless u have more sever symptoms.,...u should be ok.

The NS is only looking for an obstruction.....and if there is no longer one his comment would be correct.

DO u have more symptoms , or new symptoms since surgery? That would be an issue.

Thanks Selma...I didn't realize all that.  My NS said that the radiologist "mistakenly interpreted" the MRI.  I DO have more symptoms and new ones since the surgeries.  I apologize...Reading posts about lengths of extension led me to think that was an issue.  I just feel something is not right, because before the surgeries, I didn't even know that something was wrong...The only symptoms I had were the massive headaches and they only lasted about a month and a half.  Everything else felt fine.  Now I have constant pain and pressure at the base of my skull...have had 5-6 more of the massive headaches, my feet fall asleep, my arms turn ice cold and my balance is off so badly some days that I look like I'm either retarded or drunk.
