Hi, there is not much I can add to what selma and shannon have said.
I send you best wishes and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

It really depends on ur dr...mine had me set of testing....some blood work and MRI's and an Xray.
I had all the things listed b4 hand and did get most done prior to the pre op.
I had an echo cardiogram , chest xray, chest CT, and I do not remember what all the labs were, but my lab forgot to forward a result from one of them and it had to be redone......
This is all helpful to the NS and the anesthesiologist ......
Just keep on relaxing as best u can by what ever means works for u....I do usually say to soak in the tub with music and candles, but not everyone likes the tub......
But do relax and ur girls will relax....stay positive : )

Thanks for the words of wisdom, you must both be right, I have been very stressed about the upcoming surgery, had a major meltdown 3 nights a go, kept picturing my two little girls lives without me and couldn't handle it, they already have separation anxiety issues
I actually took a very hot bath that night and the headache got less intense.
What should I expect at my pre op? It's next Friday the 15th.
Alex
Like selma said its probably a flare and stress. Just try to relax (cant believe selma didnt say this lol) try a nice warm bath with candles and relaxing music. Also i just wanted to say be careful with the oxy. It can be addictive. Just letting you know. Hang in there! --Shannon
HI Alex,
U r correct that many of us have suffered for yrs not knowing what the problem was, and we may be a bit more tolerant of the pain,.....but pain is pain and we all have to find a way to deal.
I personally believe that many like urself that do not think they had symptoms b4 a recent onset r wrong and that they indeed had them, but attributed them to something else....
Chiari symptoms can cycle...and it sounds like u may be in a flare.......
I do not think u could have developed a syrinx since ur MRI unless u had a trauma to an area of ur back.........recently and even then I think these r more of a gradual growing item.
I am sure ur NS will do a MRI just b4 surgery usually the day b4....and I am sure the stress of the upcoming surgery can be playing a role in ur pain as well.
Try and relax the best u can it will help u also for post op recovery .

Also, feel like I slur my speech sometimes, like my tongue is to big or that the words don't want to form right, intense pressure on the neck.
