I can do a poll on pituitary tumors...ect.....if u want to give me the info I will set it up or if u want u can do the poll.......however u want , let me know....I do not know too much about the pituitary gland....I do know it can also control growth hormones......in addition to thyroid....besides that I don't know ....
Since the poll is tilted toward Hypo I am wondering if any Chiari doctors investigate the pituitary gland for damage if there is a CSF And HYPO abnormality ?
From what I have learned regarding Hashimoto's is the testing shold be FREE T 3 and FREE T 4 and TSH and TPO antibodies.
T3 and T4 and TSH will show normal even tho u have Hashimoto's.
I also learned that many of the labs r not using the right ranges ....they have been updated for hashi's.
I had the ultrasound done and my thyroid gland seems to be fine according to the ENT Doctor. I suspect the pressure in my head from a altered SCF flow (hydroencephalitis) is effecting the pituitary gland from sending the TSH properly? I am having a CINE MRI to check the flow next week.
I don't think I have hashimoto's but am still Hypo and on meds for it.
The thyroid gland is under the control of the pituitary gland, a small gland the size of a peanut at the base of the brain. When the level of thyroid hormones (T3 & T4) drops too low, the pituitary gland produces Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) which stimulates the thyroid gland to produce more hormones. Under the influence of TSH, the thyroid will manufacture and secrete T3 and T4 thereby raising their blood levels. The pituitary senses this and responds by decreasing its TSH production. One can imagine the thyroid gland as a furnace and the pituitary gland as the thermostat. Thyroid hormones are like heat. When the heat gets back to the thermostat, it turns the thermostat off. As the room cools (the thyroid hormone levels drop), the thermostat turns back on (TSH increases) and the furnace produces more heat (thyroid hormones).
Yes- Hashimoto's is an auto immune disorder and it casues u to be hypo....I am on synthroid about 2 months now.
the only difference with being hypo and hashimoto's is with hashi's u have nodules on ur thyroid.
ANd u need to have the right testing done to determine this and of course an ultra sound.
