Sounds like many of ur symptoms could be chiari and or hypoglycemia, but I do not think it rules one or the other out.

Well I have been dx'd hypoglycemic  yrs ago too...when I was pregnant with my DD I was told this...but it did change over the yrs...only to find I had the Hashimotos and the chiari so I really think somehow it plays into it.

DO u get light headed a lot?

this new dr did a 5hr glucose tolerance my #s were
after fasting for 12 hrs -77
30min after drinking the juice 102
30 mins later 89
1 hr later 70
1 hr later 54
1 hr later 45
final number 41

for a normal glucose test, your numbers should be, respectivly,
70-80
120
110
100
80-90
70-80
70-80

so you can see, mine is super low. he actually calledit severe hypoglycemia
but he has not done the thyroid test.

Didn't they test ur urine?...that would indicate a need for a glucose test....

And have u had a thyroid  test done...TSH, free T3 and free T4 and TPO antibodies...this is for an auto immune disorder  not found if they just test the TSH.....and that would explain a weight gain...with all the testing they did on me this was found.,...I have Hashimotos thyroiditis.

nope  no fam history.. he thinks this is whats caused the headaches to get bad since last summer, if it is then it could also be a major factor in my weight gain too.. he did a test on me today that proved i have headaches that are mimicing migraines not true migraines..

they did tests before the surgery but sa far as i know none tested my sugar, i was under the impression they were just tests to be sure i was healthy enough for the surgery, you know the day before pre surgery tests? other than mris  ct and xrays thats all i got... and the only true test for hypo is a fasting blood test and ive never done that before

Wow, I am surprised as I had a slew of blood work done b4...even chest xrays and  heart tests....

My PCP did insist on the chest x rays...but, it was something Dr I also wanted done.

In fact, I was sent a RX of all the blood labs that needed to be done, and when I went up the day b4 they did not have results of 1 of the tests so they drew blood the AM b4....

DO u have family history of this?

Is it possible to be something new, post op?

Just wondering......

dr b did not test for ANYTHING before the surgery.. and he only had tests done that would confirm chiari... also, i have never in my life had my glucose tested.

Hi...no, but I know that many Drs do not feel surgery is necessary for those with it...so, it could be that u have something in addition to the chiari.

I have to ask, didn't ur Drs test u for hypoglycemia b4 surgery?...Most Drs will test for all conditions that could possibly fit...and blood work should have indicated an issue as well as family history.
