I highly suggest you get some zicam it's for cold's. I was coming down with one and starting taking this and It was gone within a week. It's a little money but it is worth it. You want to go into surgery as strong as you can be. Try it and let me know if it help's Best of luck
Saw your post on the other thread - thanks! I can't lie, I feel like I've had surgery, but all things considered I'm really feeling pretty good. Just need lots of rest but now that I'm home from the hospital I feel like the worst is behind me, and I'm feeling pretty happy :)
I think your plan of waiting for Monday is a good one, but rest rest rest in the meantime. Your body needs every advantage you can give it.
Pre-op was mostly questions paperwork and some blood work. I had some extra stuff to deal with to manage a blood clotting disorder so I'm not sure mine was the typical experience but I think most on here would agree it's a pretty basic doctor appt.
Best of luck and rest up!!
Thanks Meg! I talked to the nurse today and she said that I still have time to see if my symptoms clear up. I think I will visit my PCP on Monday if I am still not feeling better and see if they can give me anything. You say your surgery was on the 17th-- how are you feeling??
Also, what exactly is done during the pre-op? I feel like I've already done my pre-op and that was almost 2 weeks ago. They asked a series of questions and drew some bloodwork. Was that the pre-op?
Sorry, hit post before I meant to! but all that to say all docs are different and make different decisions in similar situations, but fingers crossed you'll shake off the cold and won't have to worry about delays!
I had cold symptoms starting just after Christmas with low fevers, sore throat, cough, etc. My surgery was scheduled for jan 17th. When I still wasn't feeling better from the cold on jan 9th, I went to my PCP and she gave me a 5 day z-pak (azithromycin, an antibiotic). The antibiotic helped and I started to finally feel better by thurs of that week (the 12th). I told my doctors everything, especially during pre-op questions, and we went forward went forward with surgery on the 17th.
I'm going to call my nurse practitioner today to see what she says. Hope if it's a cold that it's just viral and not bacterial (strep). I didn't see any white spots on my tonsils so hopefully that's a good sign.
Rylanesmom-- I'm going to send you a private message. :)
Allergies are really bad too with the mild winter we are having ... Both kids had to take allergy meds
2/9 just 1 day after you. I have preop 2/6 so I fly out then. I also have been using sinus rinse to keep my head cleaned out....throat can hurt from sinus problems. I had sore throat I was feeling over narcotics pcp had been telling me for weeks everything was viral they were seeing don't worry. I got surgery packet and ns said to be seen and darn sinus and ear infection could not have been helping the darn chiari headaches! They gave me zpack which lasted 5 days and I bought sinus was. I hear ya about scared of delay I work with the public and someone sounds sick and I flee lol.

I'm just afraid they'll push back my surgery. When is your surgery Rylanesmom?
My surgical pack said notify immediately of sore throat. I had one last week called ns and they said get to pcp if you need on antibiotics you need them now. I had a sinus infection and ear infection. I would call to be safe.

Since u say ur surgery is 2 weeks out, I would call ur Dr to see how he wants u to be taken care so surgery does not have to be held off yet again.
