Surgery Date

It's been a while since I posted - but I have a surgery date for my decompression.

I am scheduled to have my decrompression surgery done next Tuesday (9/28/10) at noon!  Although I'm not a fan (at all) of the 'zipperhead' term - I will be glad to start the healing process and get back to 'normal' (lol - if there is such a thing).

I'm packing my bag this week for the hospital!  Any suggestions or ideas - would always be welcomed!

Hello!
best of luck to you and surgery!  I had mine Nov of 09 and went back to work end of January part time!  I highly recommend when you do go back to have your dr. ease you back into work!  this was my second brain surgery, the first time I went back full time, it was really hard!  i was so tired!
This last time I went back part time and it was much easier!!!  If you start off to fast you'll mess all that was done!!!
Just wanted to share that with you about work!
Best of luck!  One thing I loved is my family got the gel ice packs but kept them in the fridge and not freezer, so they were stll soft!  that was nice for the pain!!!
Also v neck shirts or old shirts that you cut a big v in!  then wear them backwards so nothing rubs on your neck!  I hated shirts resting on that!

Best of luck!

I do not know of neone that went back that soon...but we r all different...remember, that a time line like that is not something we all can use as a gauge to do things...we MUST listen to our bodies..and get rest after this surgery.

Will they be using ur account to sign in?

Sending good vibes and know u will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the link!!  It definetely has some helpful info!

I had my preop appointment today and got some more information.  It looks as though my hospital stay will be about 3 or 4 days (1 - maybe 2 days in ICU and then I can be downgraded) and might even be able to go back to work in about 4 - 6 weeks!!  I am VERY pleased with that information!

He said surgery is about 3 hours (which is a lot LESS than I originally thought)!

I have asked someone to post updates for me - hopefully they will remember!

Here is a link to a list.....

I will add that I did not waste money on TV or the phone service as I was not interested...and if u have a room mate and they have the TV on it may be too much to deal with both.
