CSF leak-pseudomenegocele

I went to the NS today to decide what to do about this CSF leak.  He actually decided to go with the a lumbar drain for 3-4 days, it would simulate a shunt and see how I react to it.  If the fluid goes down and stays down then that is great!  If not, we put in a LP shunt.  He was like " it is a little bit of a longer course but why not start off least invasive and then go forward"...I absolutely LOVED that idea!  I think he does figure I will end up with a shunt but I am so glad that he is patient enough to try different measure before putting something in so permanent.  So I am HAPPY with my plan of care!  I feel really good about it! Will keep you guys updated on my course, hopefully this is the beginning to moving on in my rehab!! WOO HOO!  So into the hospital I go again in the morning, 3rd time the charm hopefully! I think maybe I will bring the RN's who now know me face and name some treats! : )

Good luck to you!! I really hope the drain works for you so that you don't have to go the permanent route. However, most of all, I just hope you feel better!!

Good luck tomorrow!! I just want to share with you, I had surgery Sept 8th of last year. I also had the pseudomenegocele . The DR ended up doing a lumbar puncture which lasted 10 days and then it came back. Then he did another lumbar puncture that did nothing. We had planned another surgery for black Friday and Thankfully things at the hospital were mixed up and didn't go though with it. The night before Christmas Eve it finally went away and hasn't been back!!!
