Thanks for all the great info!! I'll keep you posted
You can have the sleep study done in your own home over a period of 3 nights this gives a much better idea as to what is going on....and it is covered by INS....look into NovaSom....I think that was the name....
They send someone to your home and show you how to connect to the equipment.....and then they pick it up....very easy. And the sleep study is done to see when we wake and are not aware of it....so just bcuz you sleep does not mean you wake refreshed due to possible awakenings you might not be aware of. It is how well we sleep, when we sleep....not so much the nights we have insomnia.
I had the blood oxygen levels done at home and had no problems taking care of it all myself.
My Chiari NS had a NL working for him that found I had EDS using a series of questions and the Beighton score testing......
A rheumitod Dr should be able to help...but like NS's that do not "see" chiari not all rheumy's "see" EDS for what it is....
Hi Selma,
Thanks for getting back to me last night! I had fallen asleep before getting this message. The ear and throat pressure settled as I slept -- which is not always the case, as you know. I will be calling my GP Monday morning to discuss all of this. I want the sleep study and I also want to be checked for EDS. I don't think I have it but what if I needed emergency surgery?? Anyway, I just worry that I'll have the sleep study on a night when I sleep like a baby and I will continue to have no validation. (Lol but not really!!). Thanks again for being there Selma. I will keep you posted.
Heather
If your throat is closing up, and it feels difficult to breathe...yes go to the ER ASAP !!
If your Dr is not available go just to be safe....never take a chance....it may be nothing but will help you relax to know.
Keep us posted on how you are doing and what you find out.
Hi Heather..... You should call your Dr asap and let them know about these changes....
Did you get copies of the latest MRI and the report? Just bcuz you did not hear back, may not be there have not been changes.....call and ask what the results were and again let them know your concerns and new symptoms.
Have you had a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea?
