pediatriction whants me to see neurolgist at syracuse hospital, just lost not sure what to think thanks for all the help kat
HI Kat, I am sorry...but if I understand what u r asking, ur son has hydrocephalus, had a MRI to be released for the neurologist..and they discovered a chiari tonsil herniation.
As I mentioned b4, it is possible for the hydrocephalus to force the tonsils down.....ur son may be experiencing symptoms that either u or he have considered a symptom.....
He may have head pain while straining, has issues while swinging on a swing.....bending over, ....or even yelling too much, but many times people associate this type of headache with being upset.....not that it is a symptoms of something.
I would suggest u get him in to see a true chiari specialist to evaluate what is going on.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Cerebral tonsillar ectopia or chiari malformation 2 ways to say the same thing....the skull is too small and the cerebellum part of the brain is forced out and onto the brain stem causing many symptoms including headaches, dizziness, numbness....
It can also cause other issues like hydrocephalus as the herniated tonsils can block flow of the fluid.
Sometimes, the hydrocephalus is present at birth and causes the chiari....
DId ur son get a shunt while in the hospital?
What r his symptoms?
