I will say that my DD made her stop even training. She is also is still not cleared for contact sports. He told her she has another month. He did say he went to a seminar beg. of January and he said NS differ greatly on their thoughts on contact sports... He felt that sports at a high level are a risk no matter what but no higher for the post surgery chiari patient.
You phrased that so well. When I read it I felt the same way. I can't imagine that her getting hit in the head was made to sound like a positive experience. There are lots of us here that wish we never found our Chiari trigger! It was a good thing for me to read before going to the neurosurgeon next week, a friendly reminder about what I am really looking for... a REAL opinion from someone that seems to understand what is going on and what the risks would be! I want someone willing to do the surgery but only willing to do it when the time is right.
This is y I always say be sure to get to a TRUE CHIARI specialist...there r plenty of NS that will do the surgery ....they don't get paid unless they r doing surgery, so most will say yes to thinking it is needed......even if they r not well informed or experienced in this type.......if that was me , I would be getting another opinion, but he told her what she wanted to hear......she is not listening to her own body...but as she gets older she will have to.
Just read it...I found it interesting that she gets headaches after exercise..I always had one after running and it would pound the rest of the day. I thought maybe it was because I get too hot when I work out.
A little scary how they tell her to still play sports while it is untreated..I've read about some cases of severe consequences after hitting you heard and having chiari.
