Information on Chiari 2

I am wondering if anyone has Chiari 2 or have children with it. I am 13 weeks pregnant and at my u/s today, they said my baby has CM 2 : (  I am so upset and I don't know what to expect. I have read a lot online, but I need more info. What are the complications? Will the child need a ton of surgeries after birth? I am so upset and confused right now.

I am soo sorry that you have to deal with something as stressful as this. I don't have much more information than Selma but I agree that you should research into whether they can do something in utero.

I would definitely be looking in to getting a surgeon who is experienced in this type of thing.
When you do, they should be able to answer all the questions you have.

Hi ..... I do believe we have someone that had this dx.
I have done some reading on it and it seems they r doing surgery in utero....outside that, I am not up on this particular condition type as far as what may lie ahead, complications ect.

I would look into finding a chiari specialist that deals with this on a reg basis.If I find ne more info I will pass it on to u...seeing u did some research, I am not sure what besides the questions u asked u might want to know.

May I ask, do u have a OBGYN that is well informed on this and the fact u have it as well?..or that ur surgery was postponed due to the pregnancy?

I wish I had more to share at this time, I know how confusing this all is and I understand ur being upset too.

Try to relax and see who u can find that has this experience w/in utero surgeries.
