chiari, vp shunts and pregnancy

I have Chiari I am post decompression and I have a VP shunt. Does anyone have any experience related to pregnancy and delivery with Chiari or VP shunts?
Thanks

I also wanted to add how everyone is different and even if a c-section and no epidural might have been better for me, your case may be different. You should probably check
with your chiari doctor says in your case maybe a vaginal birth would be fine in your case.
good luck

Hi There,
I have chiari but was not decompressed before the delivery but I did read information
about chiari patients and pregnancy. One of the main points I remember is that you
would want to have a c-section and you wouldn't want to have an epidural.  I'm pretty
sure that the article I read was on The Chiari Institutes website. You should see what
other information you can find. Here is a blog that has some information.
good luck

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I am not sure if there are members with a similar situation...but would encourage u to talk with ur chiari drs to see what they say....and also let ur GYN know about ur condition and make sure they r well informed.

I hope someone else chimes in and adds more info for u.
