I live in Bakersfield Ca. The best people to go to for me is out of state but I only have medi-cal (california's medi-caid) and kern family (county healthy family). I unfornately can't help.
I just checked and the NS u mentioned is on our list, but I really am not familiar with it here is the other one that I know many have gone to.
Dr. Carl Heilman NS
Tufts Medical Center,
Boston, MA
We do have a Chiari specialist on our list of Drs for Boston...so do take a look, I have not seen that name b4, so if u do get in with that one u will have to let us know how that Dr is, we add the names to the list post op once we r sure we had a successful surgery and were happy with the Dr....
Do take a look at the list, as I do know many have gone to the other NS< mayb he takes ur ins???
Thank you! Where are you located ? Just curious?
Good luck. I hope you get him. I'm still looking for my specialist it's difficulty depends on the insurance
I recently asked my primary care for help, they tried to send me to neurosurgeon of their choice, but he doesn't take my insurance, my primary is now trying to set me up with Dr.jean- valery coumans @ mass general hospital boston, heard he is great & one of his specialties is chiari
Thank you for your help, I am located 45 min south of Boston ma
As DeckenDolkar said u need a chiari specialist, I also may have mentioned it in ur other thread as well....u can add to one thread once u start,[ u do not need to create a new one, as this is the same topic.]
Many untrained Drs will tell u that chiari is an incidental finding, but we all know how it can and does affect those with it...chalk that convo up to a Dr that really does not know,
Use the Chiari specialist thread we have posted in the forum and is also in the Health Pages for review as well...the list is compiled of the members Drs and is not a referral but a means for u to use to research the Drs.
To locate the Health Pages scroll to the bottom of this screen and click on the hyper link.
You need to find a Neurosurgeon who specializes in Chiari. The pain you are feeling could very well be stemming from the chiari and not the discs. You really need to see a specialist who understands Chiari, it is obvious that your Neurologist does not. Where are you located?
