New Referral

I had decompression for my chiari I 4 years ago. Since the birth of my 4th child this past Jan. 30 2015, all of my symptoms have returned ten fold!! I have had c spine and brain MRI with and without contrast, both were read "normal" with consideration that I have had a decompression.
The pain in the occipital area has grown to be so severe and frequent that I have had to take FMLA from work (I am a nurse).  I am unable to stand long enough to complete my shift and often have to have my husband pick me up because I am debilitated and have no choice but to find a couch or lay down in my car.
I have most recently been referred to NorthWestern University Neurology in Chicago where they do a lot of case studies on Chiari.  I am praying that they can see or find something that the Dr.s in my area are not seeing.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I am so sorry you are again suffering from the symptoms from this condition. Was it a natural birth or a C section?
My question to you is, did your Drs rule out ALL related conditions b4 your surgery? There are several that have the same if not similar symptoms....

Did you get copies of your MRI? If not, call the facility that did the studies and request a copy....going forward always request copies of ALL testing along with the reports.

Do keep us posted on what you find out from the Drs in Chicago....
