Hi everyone I am just new on here. I have fluid in my brain,chiari malformation , IBS,acid reflux,compressed nerves in my ear with a list as long as ur arm is . I live in Northern Ireland and I am finding it hard to find information on chiari malformation and I pay a health insurance and I was thinking of using the insurance to help with have private surgery for my cm. could anyone recommend a really good doctor for this r a doctor who is experienced in dealing with chiari malformation patients

  With Chiari the cerebral tonsils herniate and obstruct the flow of spinal fluid this can cause an excess of fluid on the brain....so some times a patient may be DX'd with ICP intracranial hypertension....and a shunt is used to divert the excess fluid....

If it is an obstruction causing the excess fluid to build up, surgery to make more room is done.

Some times ICP can be idiopathic - which means arising suddenly or with no known cause.....

U mentioned u had "fluid on the brain" and that was y I asked which u were DX'd with....

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do not recommend Drs, but we do share names of Drs that members here have been to and liked so u can research the Drs and meet with them to find which one is right for u as u have to be comfortable with them as much as they have experience...and knowledge of Chiari and related conditions.

Do u know if u have ICP or a CSF obstruction?
