Hi, I ( jen3boys) am schedualed to have decompression sugery on april 13.
to: everyone
I was diagnosed with Chiari I (11mm) in the Spring of 2001. It has never changed in size and I do not have a build up of fluid. However, my major symptoms include: severe migraines on an almost daily basis, nausea, dizziness, numbness and painful tingling in my arms and legs, tremors, staring spells, memory loss, eye tremors and pain in my eye lids, difficulty swallowing and choking, neck pain and stiffness, "drop attacks?" with my legs (they give out on my if I stand to quickly) and many more.
To date, I have met with numerous neurologists and neurosurgeons. I met with my new NS yesterday, and after he read my 40+ symptoms I have been experiencing for over 9 years, he immediately scheduled me for decompression surgery this Monday April 6th.
I think I would have been terrified, if not for this board. Reading what everyone is going through, how they coped with the surgery, and what to take to the hospital is a big help, to both me and my husband. Now I know I can get through this.
My NS also informed me that during the surgery they put meds in the IV to prevent the nausea and vomitting. Many of his patients indicated that because of this, they only had mild nausea. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I will keep everyone posted.
CelticBreeze...soon to be pain free.
Hi,
I met with Dr. Oro yesterday for my 6 week check up from DDD surgery. I am healing well. He scheduled my Decompression Surgery for May 21st. I am really excited to have it done and hopefully feel better. I am also very scared.

I am three days from my surgery and I am not scared. I'm a rational, intelligent person... I know this is brain surgery, I know it's a big deal, I know I am going to have pain, but for some reason I just don't feel afraid of it. Sheesh, is this normal? I must be in serious denial or something. I'll probably really get panicked the morning of the surgery and they will need to strap me down. I hope not, I don't want to scare my kids (who are 15, 19 and 22)
Anyone else feel this way beforehand?
My surgery is sceduled this Thurs. Sept.10,2009 and early in the morning thank goodness.
My surgery is scheduled for January 26th 2010
Dr. Carl Heilman is the NS, having a chiari decompression

Dr. P Gore will be performing my surgery at Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center on January 13, 2010. Thank for all of your support! I just posted this same info by mistake as a question...oops! Not thinking so well today :)
No worries....u posted it as a FYI....lol......many do, but it is easier for us to keep track if all surgeries are on one thread : )

Let me know if u need some help with this......

I think my hubby may be willing to post updates for me...or my sister. I will let her use my login :) Hubby will be quite busy between me and our kids, so I'm guessing my sis is the best choice.
Thanks for all of the support!
