The definition of brain injury was post op tho...and does not really define what chiari is prior......JMHO.
i was accepted on ssdi for brain and head injury. the doctor told me " part of your brain was removed, it is a brain injury " it's called tbi, the brain injury association conciders it a brain injury
Just a silly question. Lol. My boy asked me that the other day and i wasnt sure what to say. He knows almost everything i know about it. Which deff isnt everything, but im learning. I like to fill everyone in about it, so more people are aware of chiari and that its no joke. Even tho i joke about it sometimes to help me get thru.
The malformation is of the skull, the bony structure that contains the brain, not the brain itself....the small room and compression causes issues, which can lead to damage if left untreated.....
I would not go as far to say that it is brain damage.
"selma"
I don't know the answer to this, but some times I feel my brain has been damaged through all my surgeries LOL!!!!! They say they don't even touch the brain when your operated on just go in there shave some of the bone . to make more room for our big brains. My dr told me he took about a fifty cent piece of bone out of my skull. I just asked him about this the other day and he said this is pretty standard for chairi surgery
Hope your day's are getting better.
