Neck and throat sensations

Hi. I'm ten years post-op and I still experience symptoms aswell as migraines.

For as long as I can remember, the chiari headache has been more of a dull pressure. It doesn't hurt so much as it aches. I can usually put it "on the back burner" and focus on other things. But lately it seems like it's getting harder to ignore. The best way to describe the feeling is to say that I feels like someone has a fistful of my hair wrapped tight around their fist, while the knuckles are pressed against the back of my neck and base of my skull.

I also have a chronic throat clearing issue (I promise it's not post nasal drip.) I feel like I have a lump in my throat. Also this is going to sound weird but does anyone ever hear/feel a trickling sensation in the back of their neck? I had hydro (not sure how to spell), I was cautorized, and I had a dueropatch placed. Aswell as having the first vertebrae/disc removed. I was 22mm" herniated at the time of surgery.

I'm not sure if any of this is related but it's driving me crazy.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum,

I am interested too as to when your last MRI was and what your Dr said when you were released from his care post op....was he/she aware that you were having these issues/symptoms?

Were ALL related conditions ruled out?

Have they checked to see if your patch failed?

Just wondering when is the last time you've had an MRI??  You should definitely notify your physician of the symptoms that you are having.  Sometimes CSF can get blocked from scar tissue or disc problems.   I used to hear a fluid sound in my right ear that my doc said was due to a CSF blockage.......I also had low tone hearing loss, but that has all resolved since my surgery.   I have heard of Chiarians having the "lump feeling" in their throat (usually before having surgery tho), but I am sure it is possible since often times symptoms do return months to years after having the decompression.   Have you noticed if your symptoms worsen with any particular activity??   I know its frustrating to be dealing with these symptoms 10 yrs later, but it may not necessarily be the Chiari causing your problems.........best to let a doctor check you!!!!   Hoping you can find some resolution to your symptoms soon!!!!!
