Dr. Michael Stechison at Gwinnett Medical Center did my Chiari surgery in August.

He's been a neurosurgeon for almost 30 years, and is highly recommended. He has a wonderful staff and you'll get all of your questions answered, and he can schedule surgery right next door at Gwinnett Medical Center right then.

Hi  and welcome to  the  Chiari  forum,

We  do  have   a list  of  Drs  the  members  helped compile of  Drs  they  have  been  to, treated by  and liked......if   the  name  is  not  on  the list  it can mean  2  things,  someone  went to  them  and did  not  like  them  OR  no one  has yet to go  to these  Drs......

MS  is  often a Mis-DX  for  those  with  Chiari however, it  is  possible to  have  both.,...so  keep  pushing for answers,,,,

Here  is  the  link  to  the  Health  Pages  where  you  will  find  the Drs  list.-   http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/Links--To--Health--Pages--Info/show/2354115

Has anyone used Peachtree Neurosurgery?
Dr. Walkup   or Dr. Gower?

My husband has Kaiser and this is who they have referred us to.
Also to complicate matters, we are also dealing with MS.  The Chiari is a new diagnosis and may actually be the real problem here.
any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do have a list of Drs that the members have been to and liked, it is not a referral and u do need to research all Drs on the list as all may not be true Chiari specialists and u will find u may have to travel to get to a Dr well experienced with Chiari.

The list is posted on this first page of the forum or u can locate it in the Health Pages- http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=186

Those that use phones to access this site may not be able to see all the info that is here so do use a reg comp  to see all the tips and info the site has to offer.

There are a few Drs in and around ur area NC...Dr Rosner, MD Dr Henderson....those r 2 that come to mind, as I said not a referral just  a place for u to start ur research.

May I ask what symptoms u have? and do u know if u have related conditions?

I am also looking for a specialist in or around the Atlanta area. I already saw dr Javed. I want at least one to two opinions. My husband doesn't feel comfortable with me having the surgery yet, so I feel if we get a couple more opinions maybe he will. Dr Javed said surgery. I need more info and I want to see a specialist. So any and all information would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hello and welcome!  There is a list here in the forum of specialists other members have used and liked.  It is meant as a place to start and not a referral.  Please do keep in mind there is a difference between a neurosurgeon who occasionally sees Chiari patients and one who devotes his practice to this illness.  Please also be aware that alot of us do have to travel.  Try not to let distance be the only factor in your care.

Welcome to our family!  I hope you find the support and answers you need here.
