Neurosurgeon in Sacramento Area

My friend was dx with Chiari Malformation and we're looking for an experience surgeon in the Sacramento/Davis/Walnut Creek Area.  Any information and or/referrals welcome.

Also, does anyone know about the surgery that Dr. Michael Rosner performs?  I hear they are performing this somewhat controversial surgery at UC Davis and would like more information.

I saw and had my surgery performed by Dr. Sam Ciricillo with Sutter Neuroscience in Sacramento.  He is a specialist and has done hundreds of decompression surgeries.  I have been very happy with my results.   There is also Dr. Boggan at UC Davis, I don't know much about him but definately google him.  I started my journey at  UCSF with Dr. Barbaro but he has moved out of state.  Hope these names give you a place to start.  You are such a great friend to help out in this way...I had a friend do the same for me and it was a huge blessing!

Thank you for the information.  It is extremely helpful and yesterday my friend made an appointment with Dr. Ciricillo as we had found him through some other searches.  I also sent you a seperate message regarding a contact.

Thanks again.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Ur friend is so lucky to have a friend advocate for them, many of us have problems with family members helping us so I am sure ur friend knows how lucky they r to have u : )

Dr Rosner is a great Dr to those with Chiari, many Drs do not feel Chiari can be symptomatic or cause issue, so most NS's that do this surgery as well as tethered cord release r under constant scrutiny...

We have had many of his patients that r members here do well post op....

I am not sure about the area u r asking about, but we do have a list of Drs here on the forum, not all of us will have a dr close to home and find we do have to travel to get  to one,
Have ur friend see a few of the same caliber , true chiari specialists and go from there,.

And b4 a surgeon is picked she should get more testing to rule out related conditions as they can affect how she feels and heals post op if she is a surgical candidate, not all with chiari are.

If u need help in locating the list let us know.
