OMG... the itching is driving me crazy!!!

I am almost 4 months post-op and up till now really no complaints. Since surgery the entire back of my head has been pretty numb which I know is normal. Recently my scalp is so itchy around the incision it is driving me nuts!!
I know this is a normal phase of healing and the nerves in my scalp are regenerating and I am starting to have more sensation around the incision now. I remember my c-section incision itching but not nearly like this!
My question for my fellow "decompressed" chiarians, how many of you also experienced this really intense, annoying itching and what did you do or take to help relieve it???

Thanks for the tips. I have taken benedryl for the past 2 nights. I don't know if it is helping or just making me so tired that I don't care.
I have tried topical cortisone ointment but no luck so far. I will give the baby shampoo a shot. Good to know it's not just me :)
Thanks!

OMG yes this was so irriating.  Mine was mostly because of the hair growing back.  I just kind of rubbed it instead of scraing it.  My doctor did tell me before my surgery to get Johnson baby shampoo because it is easier on your scalp and you incision.  It will get better,  Just rub a rub, rub, no scrub. LOL.  Good sign thing's are healing.

Yes indeed...u also have regrowth of hair around the incision too...and for me  that was part of the issue as far as the itching.

U can put a cream on it...and do not wash ur hair often...my dr told me the skin dries out more where it is healing and it can feel itchy and also like it is pulling.....so be careful with ur shampoos...baby shampoo was advised.
