On Meclizine now....anyone else use this?

Hello!
Because I can't stand feeling like I'm on a episode of "deadliest catch" anymore (rocking boat), they put me on Meclizine.
I'm reading and can't see how I can take this and function at work, it sounds like it will knock me out!

I asked why do I often feeling the world is moving and shaking and I am on this carnival ride that will not stop?  She said because the base of my brain is being compressed and until I get in and get it fix...I'll have to manage it other ways :)

So, what do you know.......

Not to bad actually!  I got the visual thing going where I started into vertigo mode so I took another, I feel a bit tired, but I'm hanging!  I think it just might work for me!  Which makes me very happy!!!!!

Holy cow, it knocked me out last night!!!  I had a dream that my alarm was messed up so I "fixed"...I shut it off LOL!
So I got some great sleep last night!

I"m thinking this combined with my seizure med, just wiped me!  That or it really worked and helped me get a good nights rest???

Hi jorlex137
My ENT said that Physiotherapy can help with vertigo by learning how to control it however I don’t know the in and outs of it.

As I have a syrinx he is concerned that any manipulation of the neck area could cause the syrinx to be damaged further he has advised me to see how the NS feels about same.
I also have Nystagmus where the eyes move involuntarily and causes my vision to become blurred and causes balance problems.

I tried that for my vertigo but it made me very itchy. I had to learn how to focus on an object when the vertigo got real bad.
Hope it works for you.

I have no idea if I have syrinx, my nl was upfront with telling me she knows little about chiari and referred me on to a surgeon whom can not get me in until November.  So we never sat down and went over my cine.
I'm a little upset because I told her in Feb of 08 that my eyes were getting worse as was the vertigo! She did the mri and missed the chiari, she actually admits this!

It's been such a long year!  I took the meclizine tonight as I've been on what feels like a "carnival ride" that won't stop.  Think my brain thinks it's on the tilt a whirl?  So we shall see how it works.

Night all!  You've been a great support as I wait to find out what will become of my little chiari.

they gave me meclizine years back and i had no problem with it at all.  but the only thing that REALLY  helped me was a pt that specialized in vertigo.  i put a post on the vertigo thread.  read that and see if someone would help you do that.  rod44s dr suggested he wait because of a syrinx, so you might want to ask your pcp too.  i did this prior to knowing i had cm.  and i still do not know if i have a syrinx.  but i did do this proceedure to myself the last time i had serious vertigo and while it didn't go away, it did make it more managable!
