POTS?

I think I may have pots too ... I definitely get light headed upon standing and sometimes get this fluttering/panic sensation in my heart when upright. Anybody else have this?

Hello- I was diagnosed with POTS just recently and had my decompression surgery about two years ago.  I had thought POTS was an issue before but after having to have two other surgeries for the Chiari (complications) I ended up with a higher heart rate when standing.  I was also noticing that my blood pressure goes up when standing which typically has a drop with POTS but not me.  I went and had the tilt table test because my PCP could see it just from checking pulse and blood pressure when laying down and then when standing in her office.  It was clear  immediately that something was not working right.  I watch my pulse with just a finger monitor purchased at walmart but I can tell because my chest can feel it when I am above 120 bpm.  Some days just standing at my sink washing a couple dishes I can run in the 150's.  Sitting I will be in the 80's and as low as 60's when laying down.  Tilt table test is the test you want to try and figure out if POTS is an issue.

Yeah, heart issues run in my family.. I think that this tachycardia is def Chiari related, but I may look into a cardiologist as well... I will see what my PCP thinks.

  I had heart palps too, but they subsided post op...I have not had them since....so, it is not always POTS, could just be chiari affecting u as well....but good to look into.

I had a echo and a stress test done by a cardiologist....again to rule heart issues out and to know for sure.

I get that too a lot!!! I was diagnosed with some type of Tachycardia. I have no idea what type.. My heart gets to racing and I feel like I am going to pass out.. my pulse goes as high as 130-140.. YUCK. It is not a great feeling!!!

  Hi...have u checked ur BP when this happens, not all light headedness when we get up is POTS...but it is a possibility.

Does ur hands or feet get bright red? In many POTS patients the blood pools in the extremities....
