Close call

Well, last night turned out to be a bit more eventful than I hoped. I don't want to say that another Chiarian almost got his wings, but I think I came close. I have been having blacking out periods the past few weeks, and another one hit last night. I was trying to get the kids ready for bed when I felt the dizziness hitting so I grabbed a pillow and laid down on the floor.  That's the last thing I remember until I have EMTs and police standing over me. Evidently I blacked out, rolled onto my back and stopped breathing. My wife was frantically trying to get me to come around but nothing was working. I was transported the hospital where everything seemed to get back to normal within a couple hours, but I'm still here for monitoring. We're trying to find out what is going on, but it seem like time is quickly running out for me.  Has anyone else ever experienced this and if so, any tips? We're scared as hell right now so any help is appreciated!

Thank you to everyone. I've gone through CT scans, MRIs, EEG, CA ultrasounds, heart echo, and met with a crew of doctors, cardiologist, pulmonary, neurologist, neurosurgeon and the internist here.  No luck on good news from the tests, but still keeping hope.  I should be having the table tilt test for POTS tomorrow and a sleep study after I get out of here.

Another possibility is BI....have them look at ur odontoid and see if it is pressing into ur brain stem....

I also agree with Lisa in having ur heart checked.....I had mine done and am glad I did as nothing was wrong there but I have a place to reference if I do develop issues in the future.

  Goodness how scary.....glad u r ok now!

Have u been tested for sleep apnea?....POTS?

Sorry I do not recall, u had surgery or not? If u have  u may have yet another CSF obstruction....so do look into that as well as sleep apnea and POTS.

Good Luck and prayers sent ur way <3

Kurt....
So sorry for what is happening. I'm sure they are checking your heart, but make sure this is done very thoroughly. Did they tell you if you're heart rate was high, b/p low? There can be valvular issues.... Ask to be seen by their Electro Physiologist (EP), make sure he looks at your EKG. Hang in there. Ill say a prayer for you and your family.... Lisa
