I have never heard that b4 so I can not comment on it...all I know is I have one beautiful daughter and she has had no issues or problems development wise.....did ur other 2 show issues along that vein that u asked?
Do u have help set up for this time frame?......u r really going to need to take time to heal from both.
As soon as I heal up from my c-section and complete the remainder of my tests that I need yo have done everything was put on a drastic halt becuz I found out I was pregnant...this is my 3rd pregnancy and my worst one yet...I've been having so many complications due to a lot of stress and my chiari...is it known or proven that a baby's growth in the womb is slowed down and delayed due to a mothers chiari? Jw
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Congratulation on your pregnancy and prayers to you for a safe delivery <3
First it is not the length of the herniation (11mm which is considered long) but if it is creating a CSF obstruction. When there is an obstruction of CSF, it can cause a syrinx to form....they can remain one size or continue to grow, those that grow can impact the nerves by compressing them...if left untreated for a long period of time the compressed nerves can be left with perm nerve damage.
A syrinx, or the condition of having a syrinx is also known as Syringomyelia.....this is a cyst that fills with CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) when there is an blockage to the flow....
Decompression surgery is done to restore CSF flow, and this should allow the syrinx to shrink.
Many with Chiari that do not have a syrinx may choose to have the decompression ot help prevent a syrinx from forming.
How soon after ur delivery will u have surgery?...
Are u having a C-Section?
