Pednisone question

Not been here a while but thought of you guys for some advice!
I'm getting infusion treatments of prednisone 500 mg for headache lasting 12 days! Yes! Joy of living with headaches after surgery!
Anyway after I'm done I thought he said he'd taper me down!
Asked the nurse for that script and she said no that he didn't write one fir that! I questioned being tapered down and she said nope he didn't write one!
She didn't ask him and I was too tired to argue!

Don't you have to be tapered?? 500 mg of prendisone for 3 days seems like a high dose!

Anyone know?

Thanks!  I called and he said I did have to taper.  I'm sure if it's because I have to taper or it's because he wants me still on it.
500mg is the highest dose I've ever been on.
I'm looking forward to coming down from this as I've not slept!

Basically, the reason why is that 3 days is not enough for your body to get used to the Pred and have withdrawal symptoms.

Actually for 3 days, a taper isn't necessary. They normally taper your dose if you're on it for more than 5 days.

I have an inflamnatory arthritis disease like RA. I've never done Pred because I'm diabetic, but I post on a website for spondylitis, and many others are treated with Pred for flare-ups.

Thanks, I'll do that!  Didn't even think of this!  I've never taking this high of dose before!

Yes the headaches are just a pain!  They call it Status Migrainosus, came on after the surgery.  They are migraines that last 72 hours or more.  They require a treatment of prednisone to break the cycle.  This one has gone fro 12 days.

It was a result of lifting 160lbs.  Big no no!  Think migraines are big side affect for anyone whom has a brain surgery, let alone someone whom has two.
