Post-Op Appointments

For those of you that have had decompression surgery, I am curious on how many post-op appointments you had with the NS.  For example, a 6 month checkup, a 1 year check up, etc???  Also did you have any MRI scans performed at these appointments, especially, any at the 1 year check up?  Or where you just mailed questionnaires to complete and send back as your checkup appointments?  I am just trying to see what the normal procedure is and what I can expect.

Hi...I had a 6 week post op without a MRI...and then a 6 month post op with an MRI...nothing past that unless changes in overall well being......

As Lizzy mentioned in the above post, u should be under the care of a NL from the time u go home post op.....and forward...however, it is difficult to find a good NL informed on chiari....so I am having my PCP do this for me and he is willing to learn as much as possible about chiari....so I feel comfortable with him overseeing my condition.

I will be going back to my NS as I have 2 other surgeries pending......so, it will all depend on u and what all u have going on as to ur follow ups etc.

DO u have ur surgery scheduled?

Goos luck  and do keep us posted

i had a 6 wk. post op check with an mri update.  that was the last time i saw my ns.  unless you have a problem, you are under the care of your nl, after that.  i did recv. a questionaire at 6 months to fill out.  outside of that, you are on your own!  my ns was dr. heffez in wisconsin.
