Darkened rooms can exacerbate dizziness or unbalance.....same with a light and dark checkered board floor pattern....depth perception is lost....so dark areas will add to our issues and if outlets are in a dark hallway,,...add night lights that go on when it gets dark....they may not give off a lot of light but can help us walking into something....
I agree, use railings and what ever else you have....I was young and had to use a cane for my unbalance......but a cane is not always the tool that will keep you upright....but may help with some of it.....
I am a fellow sufferer of the dizziness you describe, and it gets scary when you are just doing ordinary things - especially climbing stairs and walking down a dark hallway at night to use the bathroom. Two suggestion should help - at least with the scariness and uncertainty. Have a flashlight always so you can see all obstacles. And, most importantly, hold tightly to railings when using stairs. You are young, but gripping railings sure makes you feel older! But, safety will at least give you a bit more confidence when you have to move around.
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Yes, these could be Chiari related symptoms you described....may I ask why you had a stent placed?
Chiari and ICP can cause one to experience headaches after any form of exertion.....
Could your Dizzy episodes be vertigo? Many with Chiari do have vertigo along with dizziness....
Symptoms of Chiari can worsen over time if you have a CSF obstruction and it is untreated it can increase in symptoms and they range all over as to what you may experience....
A CINE MRI is done to check for flow disturbances.....
You may have more symptoms then you realize.....
Hi. Before I had the decompression my main symptoms were vertigo (happened at anytime, without reason) & horrible, debilitating headaches. There's many other symptoms, but these two are the same as what you are having problems with. Also, both interfered (sometimes still does) with working out & sex. It's possible to have symptoms at anytime during your life. You probably have had other symptoms during your life that you had no idea was related. Looking back I have had problems almost all my life, but not until Aug 2013 did it become a real problem. Everyone with CM1 has had a MRI to get their diagnosis, it's the CSF flow study (also MRI) that's needed to see if there's a blockage. If you do have a CSF problem then the decompression could relieve your vertigo & headaches.
