Sleep Study

I had a sleep study last night, to rule out sleep apnea. I don't have the full report yet (He said my doctor should get it Wednesday). He did however tell me a few of the things he saw on it.. but he didn't explain them. He said that he saw intrusions in my brain waves or something. And that parts of my brain were active that weren't supposed to be (I'm guessing while asleep, surely not while I'm awake as well). He said I did stop breathing a couple times but it wasn't really anything to actually say I had sleep apnea. Just said that I had those and that my doctor would get the report once the sleep doctor reviewed everything. Has anyone ever heard of intrusions in brain waves or your brain being active in places it shouldn't? If so what does that mean?

I heard that people w/chronic fatigue syndrome (which I was mis dxd with) frequently had "alpha wave intrusion ", which is basically being Dx'd with brain waves awake when we should be sleeping.  (and also vice versa while awake).  It's an explanation for the brain fog.

I had one done, too...to rule out apnea.  I didn't have it, thank goodness, but I was diagnosed with "interrupted REM sleep" due to Periodic Limb Movement Disorder.  I asked for a copy of my report for my records....good thing I did, because my sleep doc blew me off saying "no apnea, just simple insomnia".  When I had my follow up with Dr. Francomano (genetic doc), she was glad I had the report because she said "Docs at TCI need to see this, because it's likely Chiari related."  I'm so glad I listened to her because after my surgery (6 weeks ago) I am sleeping SOOO much better!  I make it a habit to get copies of all tests.

Hi...it is a good thing u had this done, regardless if u have apnea or not....

Sorry I have no idea what he is referring to with the waves as intrusions....or what part of the brain should be inactive even when awake????

Not sure if I got that right, but it is confusing...I would wait for ur Dr to see what they say, could be that the chiari is causing the disruptions....
