Selma says it well above - listen to your body. I walk also - there are so many benefits because of its low impact. I think it is better to walk steadily many days a week, than to push so much that you have to stop because of injury or stress to your incision site. I sometimes have really good days, but I am always humbled about taking it easy so I will not undo the benefits that will come from my surgeries. You don"t want to get any setbacks.
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Each of us will have a different time table for recovery...taking it slowly is very important. I was told it can take up to 2 yrs for the nerves to heal completely....so, no matter how good the incision looks there is much more healing to be done inside.
What we do can affect recovery as well...so listen to your body....and even when you feel good do not push to do more then you should as it can cause set backs.
No bending, lifting, pushing or pulling.....walking is the best thing to do at this time...but again do not do too much...stairs and up hills may be considered too much at this point so use flat areas to walk.
Make sure to keep your incision covered when outside as a sunburn on that area is not good.....
Since you had some fluid develop keep an eye on that as it may be a pseudomeningocele, a fluid filled sac.....this is due to a CSF leak.....could be the dura patch is not holding or is being rejected or just failed......
