My son age 21 has had problems with nausea and vomiting, GERD, a large hiatal hernia and IBS since he was a baby all of which exacerbated his Asthma. He also had a congenital heart defect, which was corrected when he was 12. He had stomach surgery when he was 13. The Dr. removed his gallbladder, had a NISSAN and a feeding tube.  He was in the hospital for 2 months after his surgery while the Drs were trying to find out why he was vomiting so much.  During all of his tests he had an MRI which showed that he had Chiari Malformation.  The Dr. told us it was an incidental finding and didn't think it was related to his stomach issues.  His vomiting is definatly better, but he can't eat large meals, and he still has a lot of problems with IBS.  He also has tingling in his hands and feet.  His cardiologist told us that it was Raynauds, but our family physician doesn't think that is what it is.  He has a lot of severe headaches in the back of his head and a lot of neck pain and occaisionally trouble swallowing.  These things seem to be getting worse lately and I remembered the "incidental" finding and decided to investigate further.  Any opinions?

Rozia is right , he needs an MRI, but find a chiari specialist.They may also want a Cine MRI...flow study.
I was told that I did not need to worry because of my age the chiari would not be a problem to me.-I have also been told I have raynauds-tarsel tunnel,IBS,hiatal hernia,,,and on it goes.I do get the tingling, numbness in my hand and legs.the headacches that radiate from the neck and back of the head.
Please check the ASAP site for more info and dr info and the chiari institute for info as well. I do not know what area u r in, so I don't know if any of the drs listed will be near u.

only a MRI will tell you if it is Chiari . if it is you need to see a Expert in Chiari . they are all over the US
