Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
..surgery may not get rid of current symptoms and it is possible to develop new ones or new conditions as a result...this is y it is important to have a true chiari specialist to help u weight the odds and the benefits.
I had surgery and I do not have increased symptoms...in fact, I have lessened them.I still have issues, but surgery is not a cure.
I feel we all r disabled to a degree....in that some activities can affect or trigger symptoms...but it will not keep us from being productive happy people : )
May I ask are u contemplating surgery?

I feel for you! I just had the surgery 7 days ago. Had it endoscopic less invasive at Cleveland Clinic by Dr Di. He has a 6 month waiting list. But I am 50 and had been treated for MS for 10 years until I nagged them to look into the Chiari knowing that I had it. Can I say I'm great right now. No it's only been 7 days but it is the fiirst time in 20 years I have slept thru the night and already thats a big sign of hope and walked 1/2 mile.
Best to you "I Wish You Well"
I was diagnosed with the arnold chairi with spynx in my early 20's. I am now 34. I had the surgery a lil over 8 months ago. Ever since the surgery I have had unbearable pain in the left side of my head and neck. Along with the same symptoms as I had before surgery. Such as blurred vision, tunnel vision, migraines, balance being off, cant hold on to anything, pins and needles in the hands & feet, etc. Is there ever gonna be any relief and a chance for a normal life?
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Did ur Drs rule out ALL related and non related conditions B4 ur surgery?
It is possible u have an underlying condition that could be causing these issues....
Have u had a post op visit with ur NS? A MRI, and have u told ur NS how u r feeling?
Have u done the neck exercises post op? These are to help prevent scar tissue from forming and also keep the muscles from getting tight.
