Absolutely, I have been finding new things all the time on chiari malformation, I share the links as well. Knowledge is power. I just found out the Specialist I was trying to see will not be taking my insurance I guess they have too much going on on the inside right now, I knew it would be a case by case basis they told me that from the get go. I did however find a new one immediately and they do take my insurance so I requested the Doctor who will not be seeing me anymore to send over my info to the new specialist, I am hoping they will actually do it this time instead of just saying they will and then fining out 4 days later when I haven't heard from anyone that they never sent the information. Is that a normal thing? What is a reasonable time to wait before calling to check in?
many times it can be the contrast that collects and looks like that...that is y I asked,...and this is y we r here to help share info so we all r more educated on this condition.....
Oh. Haha! Well thank you for explaining to me, once again. I am a little on the unknowledgeable side when it comes to these things. You have actually helped me a lot. So then no it was not with contrast.
They would have injected it into u...and asked if u were allergic to the contrast material or dye....if u did not get an injection with this MRI, then it is not with contrast.
The contrast is a liquid that helps light up smaller areas on an image.
Ax_2D_MERGE_5 on this it shows up with a lot of white and AX_T1_FSE_4 shows up with the white things as black and still some areas but much less white. I posted 5 of each in my photos if you want to see the difference. So I am not sure if that helps with knowing whether there is or is not contrast. How would I find that information? or is there a particular kind that just has contrast?
The problem with MRI's is u can have what they call artifacts that show up, and it can be an issue with the machine, like a glitch or something, but basically it is something that shows up that is n't really there like a ghost imagine...
The report should mention artifact if that is the case...and it could be CSF ...was this with contrast?
Hey Selma! Yeah I have the report and I just had my images sent over with my records to hopefully a chiari specialist. (they said they are, we will see) the report doesn't say anything about the white spots but they also told me that the 3 mm dilation in my central spinal cord canal was normal, so I'm not really going by this report anymore. Also my doctor is not going to take me as a patient any longer because I do research online and because I asked for a second opinion for the concern of chiari. I was looking up images on line I just can't seem to find anything like mine so I figured I'd throw it out there and see if maybe anyone had an idea about it. I was just wondering if maybe it was csf pouches or something. Idk either. Haha!! Thanks for checking into it though! :-) hope you are doing well and having a nice day.
Alison
Hi Alison, wish I had more education on reading MRI's...I can only refer to what I was shown by by NS's and this unfortunately is not an area we covered.
Do u have a copy if the report as well?
