Vomitting

Ok I know this isn't a pleasant subject but here goes anyway!!

I have increased intracranial pressure which is causing a 2mm cerebellar ectopia. I was told to lose weight and that would decrease my symptoms.  So I've lost 60+ pounds but my symptoms have gotten worse instead of better.  I'm in the process of getting new MRI scans but I don't have insurance now so it's been a struggle getting anything scheduled!

Anyway my question is, does anyone have frequent vomiting after eating? I can be feeling ok excePt for my normal headache and start to eat and suddenly feel very sick!  Of course i stop eating hut once the feeling hits me, I will vomit before too long! Is this a Chiari thing?

I have a hiatial hernia which I control with protonix but this doesn't seem to be reflux related because it doesn't matter what kind of food or how much I have ate!

Once again sorry for the unpleasant topic but I'm starting to wonder if I need to get my stomach "looked at!" and sorry this is so long!!

Thanks everyone for your replies!!

Selma-thanks for the insurance information. I had never heard of that before. Unfortunately I'm not eligible for that right now because my COBRA coverage just ended about 3 months ago, but I will definately keep this in mind!

Jen-I am not taking diamox right now.  I had horrible side effects so I had to stop it!  I have looked at the possible side effects of my other meds and unfortunately the majority of them have nausea and vomiting as side effects, so I don't know lol!

Thanks again for everyones help and I hope everyone has a great new year!!

Are you still taking the Diamox?  If not, still check side effects for any meds you are on.  Loss of appetite is a major side effect of Diamox, and with that comes vomiting if you eat "too much."  I put quotes because on-Diamox "too much" is probably far less than off-Diamox "too much."

Hi...congratulations on losing the weight...but, as u know it may not help....as in ur case it didn't...some that are skinny have this same issue, so I do not understand y Drs always assume it is a weight issue...ugh.

But overall health wise it is better for u to have lost that weight...so good for u!!

For medical insurance have u looked into PCIP.gov

As for the vomiting, I had that on occasion, I also have a hiatal hernia and felt it was more the vertigo causing mine....however, I still get nauseated at times but not to the point of vomiting.....

U can ask ne question here, no worries...and do check out that medical insurance...it is for those with pre existing conditions and no insurance.

I've tried Diamox and Lasix both of which did not seeem to help at all.  Currently I do not have a NL because I went to several and got the run around and the last one I went to said "you've seen so many, if they can't help you why do you thing I can."  My GP is treating the pressure with Digoxin, but it doesnt seem to be helping either. I saw Dr. Bologese at TCI and he is the one that diagnosed the Pseudo and I recently e-mailed him and he wants new MRIs and said we may have to look at surgical intervention with a shunt or possible decompression depending on what the MRI shows.  I'm trying to get on state Medicaid because I havent been able to work in over a year and my husband's job doesnt offer insurance, but that can take a while.  But until I get that, I can't have the MRIs because no one will take private pay, not that I could afford it anyway!

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate hearing I'm not the only one that has had this issue.

I have had the vertigo vomit ... Or felt like I couldn't eat because of upset stomach but it sounds like yours is worse.  My NS started me on diamox to see if they can reduce pressure in head for pseudo without having to dothe shunt.  I would talk to your dr.  My NS said even 10% of your weight off makes a difference and you have lost 60lbs!
