I enjoyed this journey and I have pics of our travels in my profile......so much fun...hey Lizzy where do u wan to go next weekend?
nite zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
oh yes, selma! we are in the mountain town of chichicastenoga now....the mountain air is fresh with the sent of mangos and wild mountain flowers. the outdoor market is so lively and exciting! with the music, the colors of all their exquisite fabrics, the smell of the local eateries...what a wonderful way to experience the culture of the decendants of the ancient maya, the quiche'! between the old temples and ruins of the ancient city of tikal, we don't know where to look first! the history here is palitable! and the best part of it all, is our delicious twins are escorting us in a horse drawn carriage! we have made many great deals in the open market and as the driver minds our purchases, the twins escort us into a spa...what a wonderful surprise they have in store for us! facials, mud bathes and seaweed wrap to moisturize our beautifully bronzed skin, manicures, pedicures, a new hair do and a little waxing......all the while sipping on another delicious local frozen concoction made with mango, coconut and pineapple. aaaaaaahhhhhhh........life is soooo sweet here!
what a wonderful idea to sleep under the stars!!! the sounds of the water softly lapping against the shore and the silvery rays of moonlight shining down upon us as we sleep....the twins standing guard over us to keep us safe and cool as they fan us through out the night... sweet dreams dear friend. thank you for inviting me on this journey.....sweet dreams....
Oh Lizzy I am so glad u came to Gatemaula with me....I missed all the fresh fruit...yum...so good.
I was sooooooo enjoying the massage I didn't want to move for a week : )
But there is a festival tonight to welcome in a new mayor and they r doing a firworks display...I love to watch fireworks.....as we walked into the town center, we see this lovely park with a fountain in the middle...stolling musicians.....the night air is perfect not hot not cold....just perfect.
Vendors have tables set up randomly all around...somse it is hand woven textiles and some it is jewelry. Guatemala is know for jade and quartz and the jewlery is sooooo beautiful I have a difficult time limiting myself to just 2 pieces......
All the colors and sounds....so much fun, it is easy to forget ur worries and pains....wait, I didn't jusst say that...forget that....it is easy to forget ur worries period : )
This town we r in has so many ruins I feel like we went back in time...I could stay here forever.....
Oh and the "boys"...Lizzy, I am so glad I agreed to have them "help" us out.
Maybe tonight we sleep under the stars...what do u think Lizzy?
guatemala.....mmmmmmmmm.......the pink sandy beaches.......it feels so good under our feet, doesn't it selma? so warm and fine...almost like silk under our toes! what a lovely resort we're in! they have beds by the pool with crisp white sheets on them and the fluffiest pillows! just like in greece! aaaaahhhhh.....so peaceful! there are no other people here, only us...so we have all the attention of resort staff to ourselves. so svelt are we in our size six bikinis! so fit...our finely toned muscles pronounced even more after the gorgeous twins rub our bodies in the slick, coconut scented oil. they take care when applying the oil, so as not to get any in our long, shiney locks....they even gently brush our hair and pin it up for us. as we lie there, basking in warmth of the mid day sun, a gentle breeze washes over us and lulls us into a peaceful sleep.
after 2 hours of wonderfully sound, uninterrupted, blissful slumber, our handsome twins softly wake us....they have brought us pica coladas and chicken ceasar salads. the chicken is fresh off the grill with just a hint of the local flavors. we decide we can not leave this place without the receipe! our tongues come to life as the flavors dance in our mouths, waking our senses. the contrast of the frozen sweetness of the pina coladas add un unexpected spark to tantilize our taste buds as we enjoy our mid day meal to the melodic rhythm of the local marimbas music. we are offered a selection of local fruites, pineapple, mangos, papaya, coconut, bananas and fried plantains with homemade fresh vanilla ice cream. after our meal, we enjoy a quick dance to the catchy marimbus tunes, then dive into the pool to cool off a bit and bring our blood pressure back to an acceptable rate. those spanish men are quite sexy dancers!
after floating leisurly in the crystal blue waters of the mikiwikitictac, we head back to our beds by the pool, where our "boys" are waiting for us. with smiles that could brighten even the darkest of nights, they inform us it is time for our afternoon massage. ahhhhhhhh...doesn't get much better than this!
take it away, selma!
