Always feel like u can vent here and no apologies needed....we all understand the need to vent and to have someone understand what u r saying.....to bottle it all up will only add to how poorly u feel.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I was supposed to take 4mg pills 6the first day then 5-4-3-2-1... well the 1st day i only took 4 and yesterday i took 3. Called my docs nurse to ask about the increased heart rate bc it was concerning me with my chiari... and she asked him and he said to just stop taking them if they made me feel funny since I have another condition. I get the feeling he just knows Absolutely Nothing about chiari (like most general docs ive seen) and has told me to stop just so hes not responsible for anything. Stopping cold turkey seems crazy to me.. so i think im either gonna take another 3 today then go to 2 tmo then 1 the next day.. otherwise just keep going down with 2 today and 1 tmo. Im concerned if i stop taking the pills bc im afraid of my brain.. then my darn swollen throat/gums/mouth will never heal!! GRR!!! stupid chiari! makes me a paranoid fool and im scared of even taking different meds cuz i dont want it to affect my brain!! but i need to get better! im sick of being sick! ooo and I have more dental work i need done.. cleaning and many fillings in 2 weeks so im freaking over that too.. i hate trying to get dental work done with my brain and not bein able to lean back! and my tmj which has sucked since my chiari dx! They have to be related! Only good thing about the prednisone is about an hour after i take it my jaw loosens up for a cpl hrs! If id have taken the pred correctly maybe that woulda cleared up a bit?! GRR! idk what to do now! Okay... this went from an informational post about what hte doc said to my need to vent bc my family doesnt wanna hear abou it and just avoids me if i say anythign about being sick or chiari.... sooo thanks for listening!!
I know I have had some nasty experience with a change of med's. I agree with Selma. I would call your dr and ask about this. I worry about the rapid heart rate. I have that all the time and it is scary. It's best to be safe than sorry. Let us know what the dr say's. Wish you the best.
I was on dexamethasone for awhile, is that similar i wonder?
Yes, I did take it due to swollen lymph nodes, back pain and tension headaches just before i found out i had chiari. I had been treated for the tension headaches many times before and yes they help alot...if you can live over the side effects. After i got relief from the HA i went back to my reg dr whom i love and have been seeing for almost 20 yrs. He wanted to do an mri to see how my back was doing (years of trouble with lower back, deteriating discs, and small bulging discs). I asked him to include my upper back and neck in that mri to see if maybe the same thing was happening up there since I have so many HA's and neck and shoulder pain. That is when he discovered the 20mm extension. Told me i had chiari and sent me to see the nuerosurgeon that he highly recommended. He also put me on more steroids along with valium and PT. It did help with the pain but again the shaking and dizziness and everything else that goes with it was terrible. Im no longer on them and feel better overall but the HA's, neck pain, shoulder pain, blurred vision, bad coordination, saying things wrong..etc etc..... are all back. Now I found out I have multinodular goiters on my thyroids and have to go see a endocronolygist. It just seems to never end! I guess I vented more than answered your question...sorry...but yes it is ok to take them with chiari and it does seem to help but not sure if the side effects are worth it?? Hope all goes well with you!
Hi...call ur Dr asap u may be having a reaction to the med.....and some with chiari also have EDS and we tend to be more sensitive to meds....
