Muscle spasticity...

Does anyone know of anything(besides muscle relaxers: already on Soma) that will help spasticity? I'm up with my leg crampng, which happens far too often. My rt calf and foot almost always feel like they're on the verge of a Charlie-Horse type leg cramp. They do cramp up terribly a few nights a week. I'm constantly stretching the muscles since they are always sore, which doesnt really help much. I eat bananas pretty regularly, take a multi vitamin, so low potassium is not the problem.

Anyone have any hints or tips to help muscle cramping and spasticity?

I get foot, calf & hand cramping too.  I seem to be getting increasing doses of muscle spasms (I can almost picture jumping beans in there jumping around under my skin!)  Anyway, I just had all of my bloodwork run & magnesium & potassium are perfect.  It's like, on paper,  I'm perfectly healthy - if you ignore my dangling squished  brain!

I never had these symptoms before this year, and they're just increasing as the weeks fly by.  I'm just counting down the days to surgery, hoping that will curb this freaky ride I've been on!

Painful is not the word for it as u can have pain for days even weeks from one cramp.....no fun at all....

I always got my potassium checked as I had this issue since I was 10 or 11....and I am a big watermelon lover and u can get more potassium form it than bananas...

But ur dr should be testing to see what ur levels r in magnesium, potassium...vit D , B12......

I pray u get the relief too : )

try a cocktail of amitriptyline 2x25mg and cyclobenzaprine 1x10mg  does a pretty good job for the most part...taken about 30 minutes or so before bedtime.  hope it helps!

Have you had your potassium checked? I had issues with this and started eating bananas, and drinking orange juice.. and table salt. Just a thought.

Thanks Selma. I know it's a neuro thing. This started along with all the other neuro symptoms too. It's painful, that's for sure. I'm glad surgery relieved them for you. Hopefully it will do the same for me.

Hi...I have not had nething to stop these, however they did stop after surgery for me....up until a  short while ago...I did start getting them back...but like most of my symptoms they r not like they were b4.

I used to get a charlie horse in both legs several times a night....now I am lucky...mayb 1  every 60 days or so....and not as intense.

I do feel it is a neuro issue with the blockages and so forth that is behind these......my poor DH would pull my legs in his sleep he did it so often.....

Wishing I had more to tell u , but I did not get help with this  issue with meds or nething I tried.....please keep us posted if u find something.
