How sad! I wondered how people had kids here. I really don't see them outside very much.
My ex's niece died from Eastern Equine Encephalitis, in Syracuse, a long time ago before I met him. You just never know....
We actually had a friend last week die from West Nile Virus - D. Jeff Yelton. My oldest son and their middle son are good friends. The state confirmed he's the 2nd death in NC, labs were sent to national level last week. Jeff and Tara went on a cruise in late July - they suspect he was bitten while on that cruise.
I am aware that u can get bit at ne time, but dusk is when activity picks up.....
The smallest bit of standing water can breed them.....
OMG! You are so right! Lol! Clueless is what they are! It's a guessing game. The reason they say Dr.'s practice at medicine is b/c even after years of practicing they still don't know everything, they're still learning new things and for some no matter how long they practice they still never learn the one thing that would help the most when dealing with patiences and that's compassion. The reason is some are only in it for the $, while others start off with loads of compassion!
Sorry got on my soap box! Lol! Neway, I can't tolerate ne fragrance when I have a HA, hence the electronic one, but there is one I use that's good for gnats also! It has eucalyptus in it. And I love the smell of eucalyptus trees, I just have to be careful when I have a HA. I use some of the other sprays when I don't have one, just not the flowery smelly ones! Those are instant migraine triggers for me! PineSol too! People's perfumes and cologne. It's hard to be allergic to fragrances, thank God not all like my mom is now!
I've used the stuff with and without deet. Little man is allergic to mosquitoes so we have all kinds of sprays and stuff at home for my migraine and non-migraine days. Poor baby, has to even watch his spray around mom! Lol! Stay safe!
They used to say that the mosquitoes were attracted to our exhale; now they're saying that it's the microbes on our skin. That's why they think repellents even work.
So if it's not known WHY mosquitoes bite, how can we ever know what causes Chiari, lol.

*These* mosquitoes are out in the daytime, and they're very fast! They actually don't need much water, even only dew.
I bought some "repel", which contains lemon eucalyptus oil; the CDC says it's as effective as deet.
It passed my smell test, but I haven't put it on my skin yet.
Trick we used as a kid, high does of B complex seems to keep them on your friends rather than you. Hummm..... That sounds selfish so we'll give our friends some vitamins as well!

Stay indoors at dusk when they r most likely to bite and u can use dryer sheets in ur back pocket it is proven to work to repel mosquito's...
Thanks this is a great reminder as this yr this is a huge problem all over and I know they r doing spraying...but that does not always work.
Keep safe.
I had not even thought about that part of it! Thank you so much for the reminder! I use bug repellent on my son, DH, and myself when I can tolerate the smell, problem for me is with the non-stop HA's I have been having I can't tolerate fragrance of any kind! I still have to go outdoors! I have one of the electronic ones that doesn't emit a smell and am praying that will be enough! Thank-you again for the reminder! I have been so worried about little man, I had not given a thought to the fact that is is even more dangerous for us than it is for someone not affected by Chiari!
The electronic ones are great if you can't tolerate the fragrance of the sprays when having a HA. Just wanted to let you know as I am hyper-sensitive to smells when having one! Stay safe! And thanks again, so much for the reminder! ((HUGS))
