Constantly being tired

I feel as if someone has turned me off & put me away. I cant hardly do anything anymore. I sleep a full nights sleep & still when I wake up i feel as if I havent slept any. It has became worse the past few weeks. I cant even make it to work on time anymore. I struggle just to get up & go. Anyone have any ideas?

Make sure they test u for an autoimmue thyroid issue not just ur TSH as it can appear "normal" when in fact u have an issue.

This is something that should be checked post op as well, in fact that is when I had my last testing done...and I was fine....but u never know what changes took place as a result of the surgery.....

If u continue to have sleep issues, deff get this re checked.

Samantha, I have the same issues.  I skip stages and actually enter dream sleep immediately.  I have sleep apnea as well and am super tired all the time.  I sleep with a CPAP which helps some but unfortunately sleeping with a CPAP only decreases my "events" by about 40%.  It doesn't eliminate the sleep apnea as much as other people.  I have to assume it's because of the Chiari.  I've read that 90% of patients with Chiari and Sleep apnea get some resolution of their sleep apnea from the surgery but if I'm understanding you've already had the surgery and still have a problem.  Have you had any sleep studies since the surgery?

It all depends what u r doing...u may be doing too much....ur body is screaming at u to slow down....

And to heal post op, u do need rest, so when u feel the need to, do it.

We also have to get up and move, and we have to be careful as to what we do and how much we do, I hope u r using the Wednesday thread for that.

But I do know how u feel, and I know it can flux for a time and it can be discouraging, but hang in there : )

I do have a question, how strongly do u mean?....and what are u doing b4 it begins.....from all those that had symptoms return, it usually is not as bad as b4 surgery and does not last as long, if it does, contact ur Dr.

I'm tired too all the time. I felt a lot better after surgery for awhile, and now that I have started PT, holy exhaustion Batman!!! My get up and go, has left the planet, and now my left arm weakness and headaches (head pains) are coming back. Super suck. I know that symptoms come back, but I didn't they would come back so strongly.

i will speak with him. Ive talked to my pcp & Ns they seem to brush it off. The weight gain has really bothered me. Ive always been a small person even when i was pregnant It was hard to gain weight. I have had issues with my stomach everysince I had the other surgery in July. Ive started taking a stool softner to see if it would help & so far it has. I also started back to work so thats extra stress. Im starting to think I am going to have to give it up. Its hard but my health is more important. I dont have any more fmla time i have used it all. How have you been seems like i remember seeing that you have been having HA's again?

Try a probiotic as well to restore the natural balance in ur digestive track...all the meds and drugs used for surgery play havoc on our system and it may take a while to bounce back....but do talk to ur dr .

Surgery does a # on our system, make susre u r taking vitamins and mineral supplements, vit B12, D, magnesium and potassium, check with ur dr to see what levels are low....but magnesium and vit D work hand in hand and can help with the fatigue and sleep issues.

My Dr is very thorough so that is good.  I also have ehler danlos syndrome, a psuedotumor, and an empty sells on my pituitary gland.  So baby steps and other specialists too see now.  I do also have a flow problem shown on cine study.  There are other less serious neck and spine things he said we would look at later.  So 1 day at a time but I really liked Dr Oro and his team.  Thank you for asking:)

I had a sleep study done before I knew I had chairi. It showed that it is 3 stages of sleep. I skip the 1st two & go straight to 3. Ive also gained around 20 pounds since Oct. I havent started any new meds recently. How did your dr app ago?

Have they done a sleep study? I have read that sleeping disorders are common with chiari.  I also have had a couple drug interactions that have caused me to sleep 30 plus hours.  Any new meds?  I recently old my pcp I need energy and she said maybe we could try wellbutrin ... With the other drugs I not know that I want another pill.  The other thing is that we simply do havehealth issues and our bodies are tired!  I know none of his helps.  I am exhausted too bit the pain keeps you from getting restful sleep.
