AM, I just looked up SS and I don't know if they've ran any blood work for it, but I will ask. I'm still in the hospital... :(
Did the docs say if your hearing will return after PFD surgery?
Hi....glad ur Dr is admitting u to keep a close eye on what is going on.....do keep us posted.
actressmouse has a point about it possibly being Stickler....ask ur Dr if this was considered...just a thought, but a good one...thanks actressmouse : )
I have a significant hearing loss (more so on the left than right) plus tinnitus. I have a hearing aide that helps (sometimes...it's not like a "real" ear). You mentioned eye problems as well....was it a retinal detachment? Do you also have joint pain and hypermobility? My docs think I have Stickler's Syndrome which involves sensorineural hearing loss, vision changes/loss, and loose joints with pain. Not sure if you've talked about this before. Hope you are getting the care you need right now. {{hugs}}
HI Selma
Well I got tested, my right ear is down 40 decibels. I'm being admitted for IV steroids and more scans (head). Waiting for admission orders now...
Left ear still holding steady at a 92 db loss. ENT doesn't want to follow benign protocol (oral steroids or injected steroids) cuz that's what we did with my left ear and it didn't help at all. :( So he's being very aggressive with the admission. If I lost this left ear, I'm done - all deaf, all the time. I think I've mentioned I'm also blind in my left eye...
I'm so very depressed but trying hard no to be. It could be worse..I know.
Hi...So sorry, but yes I know hearing issues is a possibility with Chiari.....
Good luck at the Drs and do post an update of what u find out.
