Has anyone been to Dr. Reid Thompson, Dr. Terry Lichtor, or Dr. Dr. Hekmat-panah

I'm still scoping out neurosurgeons while waiting for remaining tests, and I've also started to wonder that if I go to a strictly chiari specialist, if they can also fix that fluid cyst next to my spinal cord, if it does need fixed.

Has anyone been to Dr. Reid Thompson (Nashville) Dr. Terry Lichtor (previously Chicago, now Jonesboro), or Dr. Hekmat-panah (Chicago)?

I understand, but not all drs that r good at treating chiari will have a sign or way for us to know....it is by ur educating ur self and knowing what he should be looking at and how u feel about him as a dr.....

Not all drs r in to listing all the specialties...especially if they r on the older side....this is all new wage...and not a priority to most... although it is to us !!

One good rule, if u call and ask the nurse about chiari and they ask u to spell it...say sorry I must have a wrong #..lol....the staff should be as informed or aware as the dr or there is a problem.....IMHO.....lol...

Several people have recommended Dr. Hampf, which is encouraging.  But he ought to list it on his specialty list.  There is no mention of anything to do with posterior fossa decompressions either in his specialty list, or on his practice's website, even though he has a good reputation for them.

HI

Sorry I am from Canada so I can't help you there. Sending your scans and symptom list to a Chiari specialist is always a good idea if you can!!

Have you checked the specialist thread that has been compiled here?

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/LIST-OF-CHIARI-SPECIALISTS/show/1121460

You may find those drs on it or you may find a new name to investigate.

Good luck!
