Yeah, I have been told that it can be really helpful too so as freaky as it sounds, it is something to think over. If you have muscle spasms and they are causing you a great deal of pain then I have heard from some people that it works like a miracle!!! If they are a good experienced Dr (at doing botox) they will assess all the risks first...

get with the program and do some research girlie! been hearing some really great things about this and it's been approved by the fda!!
botox for this?!? ya'll are talking french to me!! My doc was talking about pain management and all i heard was " blah blah blah...needle....head.....blah blah blah" and thats it - i was done with that thought. those two words should never go together as far as im concerned......freaks.me.out!!
LOL..Selma too late...I read this after I answered you!
A Physiatrist is a lot like a Physiotherapist but they actually are a MD (so it's covered..woohoo!). They specialize in treatment of the body when you suffer damage from things like strokes, MS ect... It is the perfect place for me to be right now even if they haven't seen many patients with Chiari!

Hi Elizabeth,
In my recent post I mentioned botox as a treatment. If I do do it in the future it would be done by my Physiatrist which is the ONLY one I would trust, she is the leading expert in EMG needle placement. You really need to be careful what Dr you choose, to make sure that they are aware of all the risks and benefits. A lot of Dr's can do Botox but they aren't necessarily a good choice. For example, my Physiatrist mentioned that to botox a muscle that is spasming to keep you functioning (in my case in my legs) may take away the ability to walk if you stop it from doing so. Same thing in the neck, you want to be able to still hold your head up!! She has told me that botox can really provide a lot of relief too...but she has told me that if they do anything that it will be a VERY small amount. So you may want to start small too and see how it affects you and then go from there.
Where are you looking to have it done (what part of your body)? I totally agree with you it is something that you need to put a lot of thought into. I mentioned to my GP that I was nervous about it and she said "well it only lasts 3 months so it will wear off if you don't like the effects" and I thinking... omg 3 months of my head hanging and me drooling!!!
