hmm Dr David Redding I have to say for me I have been great till just about two months ago. almost 2 and a half years after sugary...when I went in to see the Dr after my MRI for the first apt. ... he told me i had to have the surgery asap and so i was able to pick from the following Thursday or the next one after that . It kinda freaked me out so I said if its something i need to do lets get it done and scheduled to have the surgery one week from that day and you know that next week my headaches peeked i am so great full i got in that fast...that he let me know it was urgent . and I guess it was. i am waiting till the 24th so see how things are now...
Pixiedust and Samantha.... What was your Drs names that done the surgery if you don't mind sharing? Do you feel they were successful surgeries?
I had mine in Little rock with UAMS.
we are every where...
I used to live in Paragould AR but i had my Decompression surgery in Little Rock.. didnt know there was some one in Jonesboro, I am waiting on an apt with a new Dr in Santa Fe NM since i moved having to go to a new specialist .
Thanks Hun! And please let me know how your appointments go! ;)
My friend met him at a health expo. he is a true chiari specialist. You can call his office & his staff will give you details. Like i stated ive never seen him, Due to having to wait to get all off my other results from my NS. It never hurts to give them a call. I found his bio online as well. I thought i was all alone in arkansas :)
My NS mainly does chiari and decompressions its listed as his specialty and his nurse told me that's just about all he does anymore! So I'm wondering if maybe that's why he hasn't paid all that much attention to the other things I have going on (such as the straightening on natural curve and disc bulges) hmm idk
Many NS can and will perform chiari PFD surgery some do quite a few of them, but what keeps them from being a specialist is, they do not have their practice focus on chiari and chiari related conditions, nor do they do research in that area.....
There r some NS's that r well informed on chiari, but lack some of the experience that one would get doing these surgeries daily.......or dealing with patients with chiari on a daily basis....
A true chiari specialist will list chiari in their list of specialties...a NS that just treats chiari may not list it at all.

How do u know he's a CM specialist?
Sorry didn't mean for that to be so blunt! I just done a lot of research and don't remember his name ever coming up but defenitly interested in checking him out and really appreciate the info! And also asked that bc...how do we really know rather they are a true chiari specialist or not...I've actually always wondered that lol
Im from arkansas as well. I found a Spec in Jonesboro arkansas his name is Terry Lichtor, MD Jonesboro Neurosurgery Clinic, Inc 800 South Church Street, Suite 203 Jonesboro, AR 72401 870-934-1462. I havent seen him yet i have to get all my mris from my NS.
Well I THOUGHT he was a cm specialist...he's made out to b one plus the top NS for CM in Arkansas but now I'm questioning it!
Anywho... I called this morning and still no return call! Thanks for your advice
Is ur NS a true chiari specialist?...or a NS that does chiari surgeries?...there is a difference.
But, u do not want to let this go without letting ur Dr of record not know or check u...so do so asap!!
Some loss of the curve of the lordosis can not be regained.....and it could be the dr u r seeing does not think it may help...trust me, it can.

Thank you Selma! Actually when they dx me with chiari back in June 2010 the MRI report also said straightening of the lordosis and other MRIs has worded it straightening of cervical spine etc.
So I've been having neck pain anyways. I also have pretty bad bulging disc at C5-6 which is flattening the cord 7mm but oddly enough my NS hasn't talked to me about anything but the chiari! I've just read the other off radiologist reports!
Hi...wow u really had a day...sorry...what a mothers day huh?
Call ur NS in the AM...the reason I am suggesting u do this , is this...whip lash will twist all the muscles and this can affect the lordorsis...which can cause major pain...loss of the cervical lordosis is often times called soldiers neck....they get it from pulling their chin back and standing at attention...well this happens from whip lash too, but if u get proper PT u avoid the muscles twisting and turning and pulling things out of alignment....and giving u more pain.
I went thru this for over 14 yrs and it took a long time to correct the problem....I still have some loss of the curve to my lordosis....so do get this checked and get the PT that is right for a chiarian.....
Good luck and feel better soon!!!
